This one day intense course covers all the basics you need to have fun being creative with your camera.

Although this course is aimed at beginners, it is helpful if you are at least acquainted with your camera’s basic functions. This course is suitable for those who have a DSLR and one lens.

The course covers the basics of how we use our cameras to more creative ends. We will be looking at camera settings such as ISO, white balance, aperture and shutter speed and how they relate to each other and the subject. We will discuss shooting in RAW and how to transfer files to your PC. There will be a creative, hands-on practical.

Also we will take a look at creative portrait basics, discussing lighting, posing, background and camera settings to learn how we can get the best from our cameras to photograph our family and friends. Weather dependant we will go out and take photos on location, where we will touch on landscape and macro photography and how to use the given circumstances to your advantage.

There will be a break for lunch at some stage after which we will look at editing software and how we can use it to really enhance our creativity in our images. We will be using Lightroom and Photoshop, however we will mention other free editing software and discuss the pros and cons. This will be a demonstration class, rather than practical. Bringing your own laptop is recommended to gain most out of it.

We will have a Facebook group dedicated to the course only for the course members to help answer all questions you might have and give you feedback on your work.
